Grenada. Underwater sculpture honoring Africans thrown overboard from the slave ships during the Middle Passage of the African Holocaust.
This is located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Grenada under water.
Pass it along so more people will know about this wonderful work of art in honor of those who perished so tragically.
Artist, Jason DeCaires TaylorSo many emotions… .I don’t think many people can (or even want to) understand the gravity of what this sculpture represents.
"I used to be a preschool teacher, but I got fired."
“Well, I decided that I wanted to have a socially conscious class. So we learned about apartheid in South Africa. Then we learned about homelessness. Then we made mother’s day cards for Trayvon Martin’s mom. And I think the principal decided that it was too much for three and four year olds, because she told me I wasn’t a ‘good fit.’ But honestly, I was just shining too bright for them. And now she’s going to see me on Humans of New York, and she’ll be sorry!”
I just think its cruel, its cruel to take people who are having great difficulties in their lives and tell them its all in their head and they only have to change their attitude
Put on a happy face?
Interesting theory of positive thinking as a model of social control
